The main reason why Obi-Wan stopped to give the final blow to Vader was after seeing his burned face inside that black mask. he started to realize that the Evil Force was consuming him and the pain he was going through because of it.  After seeing the face of Vader, Obi-Wan gets completely stopped in his tracks and gets filled with emotions.

Obi-Wan gets filled with sorrow and sadness after looking at the current situation of his former Padawan. filled with sorrow Obi-Wan apologizes to Vader that he let him become such evil but Vader states that it wasn’t his fault it is himself who had killed Anakin skywalker.

When they had fought previously on Mustafar, Obi-Wan didn’t kill Vader because he thought that there was some of Anakin still left on Darth Vader, but this time he accepts the cold fact that Anakin Skywalker is no more, only Darth Vader.

He doesn’t even try to talk to Anakin, he finally accepts that his former Padawan is already gone. Kenobi won the match and instead of going for the final blow, he chooses to let Vader walk away. The main reason why he didn’t kill Obi-Wan was that he was a member of the Jedi.

The Jedi are the guardians of the galaxy, their duty is to protect people and not kill them. A Jedi never takes a life, they are brave warriors of the galaxy. They are warriors who fight for justice and they fight without weapons because of their immense trust in the Force. It almost seemed like it was his biggest weakness to let Darth Vader live, but it was his biggest strength.

Even Reva did the same thing in the final episode by letting Luke live. She forced herself to get out of the Dark Side. She didn’t let the Dark Force control her and found her back.

Jedi and Sith have a big difference. Sith doesn’t read people, they see them as friends or enemies, but a Jedi knows how to act with their enemies and friend. Obi-Wan looked at Darth Vader from the same perspective, he knew that life is more important than death to people. He showed mercy over hatred and chose life over death. He chose Vader to go away because he was a true Jedi warrior.
