President of the Marvel Studios Kevin Feige already announced all the movies and television series from Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU. However, it seems that Feige did not really announce every single film we will see in Phase 5, because new reports have shown that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 movie is in advanced pre-production and we might get to watch it sooner than we thought.
As per the reports, Holland’s new Spider-Man film will be released on the big screen in mid-2024, this means that it will be included as one of the MCU’s Phase 5 films. But the officials from Marvel Studios and Sony are yet to comment on the fourth MCU Spider-Man film.
Is Spider-Man 4 releasing in 2024?
Comic Circus reported that one of their trusted sources claimed Spider-Man 4 will indeed release on July 12, 2024. And if the report is true then it will be released just two weeks before Thunderbolts. Furthermore, there might be a reason why Kevin Feige did not announce Spider-Man at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Although Spider-Man will release between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Daredevil: Born Again, and Thunderbolts, it technically won’t be an MCU Phase 5 film because Sony has the rights to Spider-Man, so, technically, it will also be a Sony release rather than one from Marvel Studios.

Alex, a writer from Comic Circus wrote on Twitter, “we just learned #SpiderMan4 has now shifted into a more advanced level of Pre-Production. An announcement could be imminent but we’ll see if Sony comes through for #CCXP.” Another source Tom Smith also twitted that the only thing left to be settled for the movie is the director. He also mentioned that Zendaya is returning for the upcoming film.
Hopefully, just like Alex wrote, we might get an update on the film at the Comic-Con Experience Event in December.
What is the plot of Spider-Man 4?
In Spider-Man 3, we saw that Dr. Strange makes everyone forget who Peter Parker is and it will obviously continue the story aftermath of the events of No Way Home, but reports have shown that the fourth film will not be as big as No Way Home and it will show us, Peter, as a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
This film will show how Peter copes with everything after he lost his identity and unlike in Far From Home or No Way Home, he will not be dealing with Avengers-level threats instead he’ll deal with street-level villains. To make it more simple, this new film will be more like Spider-Man: Homecoming. And since it is rumored that the film will have a street-level story, we might get to see Spider-Man and Daredevil team up, which sets up for the MCU Team Red.
Will Peter get a symbiote suit?
In the post-credit scene of No Way Home, Tom Hardy’s Venom left a crumb of a symbiote in the MCU and many are speculating that we may see Venom and if not, Peter getting a symbiote suit in the fourth film, however, recent reports have shown that we neither will get Venom nor symbiote suit in this upcoming movie.
But certainly, Marvel has big plans for Spider-Man down the line. MCU Phase 6 will wrap up with Avengers: Secret Wars. And in the original Secret Wars comic which came out back in the 1980s, Spider-Man’s suit gets ripped and he replaces the ripped suit with a symbiote suit. And Feige’s commitment to making Secret Wars bigger than Endgame backs up this theory because Peter obtaining a symbiote suit might be a bigger scene than Captain America holding Mjölnir.
Other than that, since Secret Wars will bring back variants of major Marvel characters, there is a high possibility we will also see Tom Hardy’s Venom in the MCU again, along with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.
