When Will Production On the Series Begin?
The production process of The Last Airbender has begun for years. Netflix has shown interest in this project since 2018. They had originally planned to start their shoot in 2019 but it seems like that plan was disbanded.
We can see why they made changes to their plans because that was the time when COVID started to float in the environment. The restriction of COVID made them unable to shoot and another reason why the plan didn’t go according because Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators left the project back in 2020.

The plot that we can expect from the new Netflix Avatar: The Last Airbender is that we can find the same plot that has been in the animated series.
The world of Avatar has been divided into four nations and those four nations are named four elements; the Air Nomads, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and the Water Tribes. There are also some of the chosen people in every nation that are known as “Benders”. Such people have the talent to use the element of their nation but that’s not easy to achieve.
They need to master the martial arts and telekinetic powers to become a blender and the only person who can use all the four elements is known as an “Avatar”.
The story is about the young avatar, Aang who has finally wakened up after 100 years of sleeping in the ‘Avatar State’.
Aang has finally woken up by Katara and Sokka of the Water Tribe. He is now on a mission to master all the elements with his new friends so that he can finally bring peace to the nation. By now, we can expect to see original characters like Zuko and the Kiyoshi Warriors.
As for now, the plot will start with the same premise of Avatar being lost for a hundred years.
Who is in the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender?

Gordon Cormier as Aang
The iconic main character of the movie will be played by Gordon Cormier. He will be the person that will have the ability to control all four elements. If you’ve been wondering where you’ve seen him, then he is the person who will be voicing Louis in Netflix’s new animated series Team Zenko Go.

Kiawentiio is Katara

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh
Paul Sun-Hyung, who has given his outstanding performance in the comedy series, Kim’s Convenience and also in Star Wars will play the role of Uncle Iroh. Uncle Iroh is a former Crown Prince of the Fire Nation and a retired general.
Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko
Dallas Liu will play the role of Prince Zuko who is the current Crown Prince of the Fire Nation and a skillful fire bender. Dallas has also participated in the Marvel Universe by playing the role of Ruihua at Shang-Chi. He has also been in popular series such as The Who Was? Show and No Good Nick.

Who is involved with Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix?
It seems like this time we’ll get to witness some of the original creators of the Nickelodeon series.
As we’ve already discussed before, the original creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko left the show in 2020 and would play a vital role in the show as the showrunners and executive producers. It seems like Jeremy Zuckerman,l the famous music composer will write the music for the live-action series, but in a recent interview he says;
“No, there was never a contract. It was just like “obviously you’re doing the music”, you know, but now that they’re not there, I don’t know what they’re gonna want. I’m not super pumped that they’re not gonna be there, so I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t know what the future holds for that, it’s a big question mark. Yeah, sorry to not have a happier, more straightforward answer.”
The executive producer of the series will be Dan Lin and Albert Kim as the show-running duties of Avatar. Jang Chol Lee is responsible for the design of the series and with the cast announcement, they also announced two new directors for the series, Roseanne Liang and Jabbar Haisani.

Why did the original creators leave Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Let’s take a tour back to the year when there was a great pandemic in the world.
Back in August 2020, the original creators gave shocking news to the whole fanbase. The original creators departed from making their new series, and this made a huge impact on the development of the series, so why did they leave?
Michael Dante DiMartino gave some of his thoughts on why he departed from his project. “When Bryan and I signed on to the project in 2018, we were hired as executive producers and showrunners. In a joint announcement for the series, Netflix said that it was committed to honoring our vision for this retelling and to supporting us in creating the series,”
He added more, “And we expressed how excited we were for the opportunity to be at the helm. Unfortunately, things did not go as we had hoped.” Bryan also posted on his Instagram giving his thoughts on why he was leaving the community.
“Though I got to work with some great individuals, both on Netflix’s side and on our own small development team, the general handling of the project created what I felt was a negative and unsupportive environment. “
It seems like things weren’t looking quite good for the duo, but they are not sitting quietly as they have announced that they will be working on a new animation project at Paramount+ in the new Avatar Universe.
How many episodes will Avatar: The Last Airbender have?
Looking at the current news, it seems like the new Netflix series will have eight episodes and each of the episodes will have a one-hour duration. This is a big project for Netflix because each episode of the series cost them $15 million, and the first season might cost them $120 million.
In which location will Avatar: The Last Airbender season 1 take place?
Back in the year 20218, it was reported that the production of the series will take place in 2019, but due to COVID and the departure of the original creators, it didn’t go as it was planned. After all the havoc, they were having some trouble finding the perfect location for their production, and Bryan Konietzko gave an update on the production back in May of 2019.
“We’re moving into a new office space, transitioning into the next phase of production. Our core team is growing. We’re writing, planning, and testing. Though there’s plenty that’s new for us in this live-action process, we’ve been on this long rollercoaster ride twice before and a lot of the climbs and twists and turns feel familiar.”
It seems like the location of the Netflix Avatar: The Last Airbender will take place where there are greeneries and an environment that matches with the animated series. And the perfect place for that is Vancouver, Canada.
The production started back in November 2021 and it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna end soon. Well, the film is titled ‘Trade Winds’. But the main question is when will the production end, and when will it get released?
The release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Well, for this the officials haven’t spoiled a single piece of information. One thing we can be sure of is that the production has already wrapped back in June 2033 and with this information, we can say that it’s probably gonna take quite some time for the movie to get released.
We might not get any kind of information regarding the release date of Avatar until mid-way of 2023. We have to wait for the next year to find the official release date of this new series. Well, we can expect the release date in 2023.
