Naruto Movies in Order: Chronological Guide

Naruto sadly ended on March 23, 2017, it was a great anime series, and was hard to say goodbye to such an epic anime. But in its last movie, we could see Naruto becoming more mature and powerful.

We could see the character’s power emerging together; have you watched that part yet?

There is a total of 11 movies in Naruto. Every movie explains his journey from small to mature, now without any delay let’s take a look at these movies in order.

Directed by Tensai Okamura, produced by Manyo Oshikiri, and Tomoko Gushima, and Produced by Studio Pierrot; Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow was released after 100 episodes of anime on August 14, 2004.

It is the first Naruto movie and is still one of the most popular anime-movie.

Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto, Team 7 have watched a new movie by Yukie Fujikaze in a cinema. The leader, Kakashi, summoned the team to watch the movie to prepare them for their next mission to save Yukie Fujikaze from any danger.

In the film, Yukie Fujikaze plays the role of Princess Gale. Later, it was revealed that she was a real princess from the land of Snow. The team is assigned to protect her from being kidnapped.

The first movie of Naruto was popular and did a Box Office of ¥1.37 billion.

The 2nd movie, Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel was released on August 6, 2005, with a running time of 95 minutes.

Directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki, written by Hirotsugu Kawasaki, Yuka Miyata, and Produced by Studio Pierrot, Legend of the Stone of Gelel was also released on the TV channel Cartoon Network on July 26, 2008, in the United States.

The story starts at a desolate beach. A great battle gets started between the sand shinobis and armored warriors who like robot characters.

The Jinchuriki of One-Tailed monster, Gaara, and the shinobi of the Sand Village quickly take the upper hand in the battle. After acknowledging them, the remaining armored warriors retreat to the ocean.

It is later revealed that some evil forces after a powerful stone can grant them great powers. To prevent that from happening, Shikamaru, Naruto, and Sakura will protect that powerful stone from getting into the wrong hand.

Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel earned a box office of ¥1.18 billion. 

Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom

This is the 3rd movie of Naruto, it was released on August 6, 2005, with a running time of 95 minutes.

Directed by Toshiyuki Tsuru, written by Junki Takegamui, and distributed by Toho, the Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom film was also aired on the TV show Cartoon Network on November 8, 2008, and its DVD was released on November 11, 2008.

Naruto, Kakashi, Sakura, and Lee are on their new mission to protect Hikaru Tsuki, the prince of the Land of Moon, and his father. The team is assigned to escort them safely while they travel back safely.

Naruto finds prince, Hikaru’s behavior irritating and undisciplined, but they find out about the ridiculous amount of wealth his father possesses after he buys an entire circus for his son.

While going back to the kingdom, they face many challenges and obstacles.  Naruto and his friends have to escort the prince without letting him get harmed. Can they complete this task?

The third movie of Naruto, Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom did pretty good in the industry and made a box office of $3.224 million. 

Naruto Shippuden the Movie

This was the 4th movie of Naruto, it was released on August 4, 2007, with a running time of 95 minutes.

Directed by Hajime Kamegaki, written by Junki Takegami, and produced by Mikihiko Fukozawa, Shoji Matsui, Naruto Shippuden the Movie is about the teenage Naruto, he isn’t a child anymore.

The movie was released on April 23, 2008, in Japan on DVD and on November 10 in the United States.

The movie starts with the dying Naruto. He gets killed while he battles with a monster and a funeral is set on Konoha for him where everyone attends.

But yet, Naruto isn’t fully dead. He needs to protect Shion the priest by helping in her mission to win over the evil monster and save the world. But he also needs to save himself, and escape from his own death.

The fourth movie, Naruto Shippuden the Movie earned a box office of ¥1.21 billion. 

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire

This was the 5th movie Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire was released on August 1, 2009, with a running time of 96 minutes.

This movie was directed by Masahiko Murata, written by Junki Takegami, and produced by Mikihito Fukazawa, Fukashi Azuma, and Naoji Hōnokidani. 

During its 10th anniversary, the industry released a teaser and preview of the movie. The movie follows after the 126th episode of Naruto Shippuden.

There is a possible outbreak of the 4th Ninja war. A few shinobi who possessed the Kekkai Genkai abilities have disappeared from 4 nations, the land of Wind, Water, Earth, and Lightning.

The only land that remains normal is the Land of Fire and there are rumors that the Land of Fire is behind all such incidents. There are many rumors being placed that the other nations are preparing a rebellion against the Land of Fire.

If the truth isn’t unraveled quickly, it can cause the 4th Great Ninja War that will result in great chaos.

The fifth movie, Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire earned a box office of ¥1.02 billion.

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds

This was the 6th movie of Naruto which was released on August 2, 2008, with a running time of 93 minutes.

Directed by Hajime Kamegaki, written by Junki Takegami, and produced by Mikihiko Fukazawa, Shoji Matsui, Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds mainly focuses on the main characters Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto.

The movie released was announced in Weekly Shōnen Jump with its DVD release date. The English dubbed version of this movie was released on October 25, 2011, on DVD.

The evil shinobi from the Land of Sky are plotting something in the Land of Fire. They are about to attack Konoha and take revenge for destroying the Sky Country in the second ninja war.

The movie takes place after episode 111 of the series; Naruto Shippuden.  Orochimaru gets sick and suffers because of his expired body and assigns Sasuke to find someone who can help him get back to life, someone that can reincarnate him.

The sixth movie, Naruto Shippuden the Movie earned a box office of ¥1.16 billion. 

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower

This was the 7th movie of Naruto which was released on July 31, 2010, with a running time of 85 minutes.

Directed by Masahiko Murata, written by Junki Takegami, and produced by Fukashi Azuma Naoji Hōnokidani, Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower was released with a short comical feature Naruto, the Genie, and the Three Wishes!!

Naruto, Sai, Sakura, and Yamato are assigned to a new mission where they have to capture a shinobi named Mukade who was reported missing recently.

The team encounters Mukade at Loran, a thousand-year-old desert city. Mukade was trying to destroy the whole Ninja World with an ancient chakra power, Ryūmyaku.

Mukade unleashes the chakra power by breaking its seal which was created by the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. He is now on the way to dominating the Shinobi World. Can Naruto and his friends successfully prevent from that happening?

The sixth movie, Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower earned a box office of ¥1.03 billion. 

Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison

This was the 8th movie of the series which was released July 27, 2011, with a running time of 103 minutes.

Directed by Masahiko Murata, written by Akira Higashiyama, and produced by Fukashi Azuma, and Naoji Hōnokidani, Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison started streaming on January 26, 2014.

The story begins as Naruto is arrested for mistakenly attacking the Fourth Raikage and gets sent to the Hidden Grass Village, Hozuki Castle.

The head of the prison, Mui puts the seal on Naruto and his chakra but a member from Hidden Grass Black Ops, Ryuzestu tells Naruto that it was all a setup and he was being held captive because Mui used Kazan of Hot Water Village to trap Naruto, so that he could release his son Muku who was sealed 10 years ago.

The eighth movie, Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison, didn’t do much great as the previous ones. The movie earned ¥800 million. This movie was the lowest-grossing movie of Naruto.

Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie

This was the 9th movie of Naruto, it was released on July 28, 2012, with a running time of 109 minutes.

Directed by Hayato Date, written by Yuka Miyata, and produced by Makoto Shiraishi, Naoji Hōnokidani, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie’s CD and its soundtracks were released on 2012, July 25.

After meeting with his mother, Uzumaki Naruto has returned to Konoha. Kakashi’s team and Guy’s team drive off a bunch of White Zetsu.

Later Tobi used the Limited Tsukuyomi, and Naruto and Sakura get transferred to a different dimension where his friends aren’t friends anymore but are evil. Will they turn back the things as they were before?

The eighth movie, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie did a great job in the industry and earned ¥1.48 billion. 

The Last: Naruto the Movie

This was the 10th movie of Naruto, it was released on 6 December 2014, with a running time of 112 minutes.

Directed by Tsuneo Kobayashi and produced by Takuyuki Hirobe, Naoji Hohnokidani, and Shoji Mats, The Last: Naruto the Movie focuses on Naruto Uzumaki as they are assigned to a new mission where they have to rescue the village once more from the moon that’s falling down.

For this movie, Kishimoto designed a new appearance for the characters and now they look mature, they are more than a teenager but less than adults. He also focused more on Naruto’s relationship with Hinata. Although Kishimoto is pretty bad with Romantic scenarios, the result was pretty good.

The story starts after the end of the Great Fourth Ninja War. Two Years after the greatest war the shinobi world is in threat once again. Naruto must defend the village against Toneri Otsutsuki, descendant of Hamura Otsutsuki. Will Naruto save the shinobi world once more when the whole moon is going to crash into Earth?

The tenth movie, The Last: Naruto the Movie did a great job and it grossed more than the rest of the movies. It earned a box office of ¥2 billion.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie

This was the last movie of Naruto, it was released on August 7, 2015, with a running time of 96 minutes.

Directed by Hiroyuki Yamashita, and the story by Masashi Kishimoto, Boruto: Naruto the Movie focused more on Naruto and Sasuke’s battle than on the new protagonist, Boruto.

The movie starts with Boruto being in the Chunin exams but suddenly after years of the Great Fourth Ninja War, the shinobi world Is in danger again to the Otsutsuki clan.

Kinshiki Otsutsuki and Momoshiki Otsutsuki are after the chakra fruit and the world is in danger again but Naruto and Sasuke, the deadly duo are there to prevent from that happening.

Boruto who thinks low of his dad witnesses his hard work when he sees him fighting with putting his life on the line for the village and suddenly starts to acknowledge him. But will they prevent them from eating the chakra fruit?

Boruto: Naruto the Movie did exceptionally well and became the highest-grossing Naruto movie with a box office of ¥2.6 billion. It was the best-selling release of 2016 in Japan, with many positive responses to the animation and fight scenes.

Why you should watch Naruto movies?

Many movies of Naruto aren’t related to its original storyline but it gives us valuable information about their journey and upgraded powers. Each Naruto movie provides us with some exceptional battles and a great storyline. It isn’t necessary to watch Naruto movies, but you’ll be entertained more if you watch them.

Which is the best Naruto Movie?

In Naruto’s last two movies we can find some great storylines with incredible battles in Boruto: Naruto the Movie. These two movies of Naruto are a must-watch because we can see naruto entering maturity in The Last: Naruto the Movie and his romantic story with Hinata.

The epic battle between the members of the Otsutsuki clan and Naruto and Sasuke is one of the most epic battles, we get to see Kurama and Sasuke’s Susano emerging together.
