The death of Chadwick Boseman had a massive impact on the industry, and the future of Black Panther looks unsure in the Marvel Universe.
The news of Chadwick left all of us in a depressed state. His iconic role in the MCU will remain one of the best, and after his demise, producers decided to give a rest to the character in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever? But how will he die?
How did Chadwick Boseman die?
For the people unaware of Chadwick Boseman’s death, we want to give you a little glimpse of how his death changed the whole future of the MCU.
Chadwick Boseman was why Marvel needed to remake their script, and they had to change the future of Black Panther. Chadwick portrayed his role as King T’Challa perfectly. He was a favorite of most fans, but no one knew that he would soon face an uncertain fate.
We’ve seen Chadwick happy and smiling most of the time, but behind the curtain, he was fighting colon cancer for quite a long time.
Colon Cancer affected him quickly; he lost weight and left and passed away on August 28, 2020. This news shocked the whole world and left Marvel in shambles because they planned another appearance on Chadwick in their upcoming movie.
The fans were unsure what future Black Panther would hold, and the most obvious one was that the actor would still wear the iconic Black Panther suit and continue his legacy. But after the news provided by Kevin Feige, it left the whole community shocked.
The producers decided to make the character rest which was an uncertain decision but the right one. Black Panther would not be recast again, and they believe that Chadwick Boseman was the ultimate actor for Black Panther.
“Chadwick Boseman was an immensely talented actor and an inspirational individual who affected our lives professionally and personally. His portrayal of T’Challa the Black Panther is iconic and transcends any iteration of the character in any other medium from Marvel’s past. And it’s for that reason that we will not recast the character.” said Fiege.
He was simply the best in the suits, he played the role flawlessly, and it was beyond perfection. They believed that Boseman did well in his part and that the continuity of his character was no longer needed.
T’Chall was ultimately put to rest, but how will that happen?
How did Black Panther die in the MCU?
The producers made their final decision not to cast Black Panther again in the series. Such a task will always have a massive impact on the industry, so what will happen after his death, and how will the character be put to rest forever?
When we take a look at the official synopsis of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we can find the death of T’Challa being stated;
“In Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
“As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.
“Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli.”
The fans were in commotion as they had no idea what the future of Black Panther held without the appearance of its strong character. Fans had no idea what the fate of Wakanda held until the release of the first trailer, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where we could witness the death of King T’Challa.
A few scenes in the trailer seemed to be T’Challa’s funeral. The confirmation of T’Challa’s death was there, but the reason for his death wasn’t shaped. There wasn’t a simple glimpse of clues that could have been related to T’Challa’s death.
Neither trailer nor any producers, actors, or anybody had the information on how Black Panther died.
Looking back at the time, we can find that Y’Challa had disappeared for five years and ultimately returned in Avengers: Endgame. Looking at that note, we can say that Black Panther passed away somewhere between Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Another obvious choice is that he could’ve died during the early beginning of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
There were also rumors in the industry that Black Panther could’ve died while battling with the antagonist of the movie, Namor. As we’ve said, “It’s only a rumor” it hasn’t been confirmed yet, and it doesn’t seem like T’Challa would lose a fight and get killed.
They needed to give a proper goodbye to Chadwick Boseman, so they had to make a decision that would serve as a tribute to Chadwick and which would also affect the story for their upcoming movie; Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
And the writers perfectly did their job. They found the best way to honor Voseman and T’Challa; he would pass away from an illness. The source of the disease was never confirmed because the producers didn’t want anyone else to worry about the condition.
The story of T’Challa’s death is beautiful because, unlike other characters who died in the battle, he had to fight with an illness. T’Challa’s death shows people that even superheroes can be affected by everyday things and have to fight for their lives every day.
By far, this has to be the perfect story written for T’Challa.
The illness was not revealed to the public, and even in the movie, we can see Shuri having problems dealing with the demise of her brother. She assumed there was a cure for his illness which she believed to be a heart-shaped herb.
In the first movie, we can witness every herb being burned down in the order of Erik Killmonger. Shuri managed to sneak one of those herbs away, and she used that last herb on T’Challa while he took back the mantle after defeating Killnonger.
What will happen to Black Panther now that Kind T’Challa is gone?
T’Challa passed away, and the future of Black Panda seems to be a problem, but we can assure you that Black Panther will never disappear.
It has been clear that T’Challa will not make another appearance in Black Panther again because Kevin made clear in an interview with Deadline.
“So much of the comics and that first movie is the world of Wakanda. Wakanda is a place to explore further with characters and different subcultures. This was always and initially the primary focus of the next story.”
“We’re not going to have a CG Chadwick, and we’re not recasting T’Challa. Ryan Coogler is working very hard right now on the script with all the respect, love and genius that he has, which gives us great solace, so it was always about furthering the mythology and the inspiration of Wakanda.”
They’re not giving any CGI work on Chadwick, so who is going to wear the iconic Black Panther suit?
There are several rumors that state the iconic Black Suit will be worn by M’Baku, but some fans also say the new Black Panther will be T’Challa’s lover interest, Nakia. The commotion never ended until they released the new trailer, where we could see someone wearing a Black Panther suit, and it was nonother than T’Challa’s sister, Shuri.
This couldn’t have been a better decision because Shuri was the one who had known her brother well, and they shared an incredible bond. And this is the same story that takes place in the manga of Black Panther.
In the comics, T’Challa passes away, and Shuri becomes the new Black Panther. This story of T’Challa was beautiful and it was perfectly portrayed. The story was so good that it was ready to fit as the tribute for both T’Challa and Chadwick Boseman.
