We are all aware of the sad fact that our famous headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus, died. Snape killed Dumbledore using the killing curse ‘Avada Kedavra’ in The Half-Blood prince.No one ever thought the only wizard that Voldemort feared would die.
His death created great chaos in the wizarding world. The Death Eaters were able to roam freely and cause terror.
After his death, many expected that he would return. Since it was tough to believe he died, many fans also wondered if Albus Dumbledore would return to life.
The answer is No; he doesn’t come back to life. There are valid reasons to prove why he won’t come back. First, let’s look at his past life and how it played a role in his death at the hands of one of his closest friends.
Albus Dumbledore
Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was an intelligent, kind, and loving person. Before becoming the headmaster, he was a student of Hogwart himself. Despite having his own set of problems in the beginning year of his school, he was a bright student.
He was born to Kendra and Percival Dumbledore in the year 1881. He was the eldest son and also had two younger siblings, Aberforth and Ariana Dumbledore. He grew up in a quiet family until the tragedy hit them one after another.
Dumbledore’s family used to live among the muggle. One day a group of Muggle boys attacked his little sister. This led to Ariana going out of control, exposing her power and chasing them away. This encounter was traumatizing for Ariana.
This incident traumatized her mentally and emotionally, leading to her powers being dominant. She was able to cast magic only on rare occasions. The time when the power would occur would cause great destruction. Seeing his daughter’s heartbroken situation, Percival located the Muggle boys and attacked them.
Since it was a crime to expose power to the muggles, he was sentenced to Azkaban, where he later died. The loss of his father was a sad moment for Albus and his family members.
This incident also made the Dumbledores the center of attention as the muggle haters. So, her mother Kendra decided to move away to Godric’s Hollow, a part wizarding village, for her family’s sake.
So, Dumbledore had quite a hard time in his first year in the academy. Being the son of a criminal created a bad reputation for him among his fellow students. But the good thing is that it didn’t last for long. He was a bright student with intelligence and diligence.
So, he became known for being an outstanding student with skills and talent. He also obtained different awards making him the most brilliant student to have ever attended the school. By the end of his school years, he was able to create other notable friends such as Nicolas Flamel, Bathilda Bagshot, and Griselda Marchbanks.
Despite achieving great things in his life, the tragedy of losing a family member continued even when he grew older. He also lost his beloved sister, Ariana Dumbledore.
When a three-way duel between him, his brother Alberth Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald took place, their sister was in the house. After hearing the commotion, she rushed to them to see what the fuss was about. The spell mistakenly hit Ariana, killing her instantly.
Both the brothers cried horribly for their sister. This event haunted Albus his whole life. This was also the reason that Dumbledore had to die.
How is this event connected to his death?

Even being an intelligent and bright wizard, he didn’t have an easy life. He lost his father and then his sister. So, tragedies came one after another, and this scarred him his whole life.
Albus Dumbledore’s- The Powerful Wizard
Dumbledore had a natural talent for learning and casting spells. He was like one of those what your call the natural born talent. He could learn things quite fast. Not only that, but he was also a hard-working student with a solid determination to learn new things.
So, he could even become the master of all the major disciplines of magic. He was even able to cast magic without using a wand and casting spells. He was able to achieve different feats. He was a well-known alchemist after he discovered the twelve uses of the dragon’s blood. He also became a famous, powerful wizard after successfully defeating two powerful dark wizards. He beat both Gellert Grindelwald and Voldemort.
After defeating Gellert, he possesses the Elder wand, which was one of the Deathly Hallows. He was also able to gather other remaining powerful magical artifacts, the Cloak of Invisibility and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
This proves that Dumbledore didn’t become a potent wizard in just one day. His natural talent for learning spells and creating new ones, his hardworking mindset, and different achievements throughout his whole life played a significant role. This made him one of the most powerful wizards of his time.
Death of Dumbledore
Although no one expected Dumbledore to die, it was evident that he had to die. Different moments pointed out that Dumbledore would die or be affected in some way. The death of the headmaster was not something that suddenly happened.
Dumbledore died on his terms. How can we say that?
When Snape pointed his wand toward him, the last words Dumbledore were “Severus… Please...” This was not his plea to spare his life, but it was a request to Snape to kill him. Yes, you heard it right; it was never Snape’s intention to kill his dear friend.

So, why did Dumbledore choose death?
Dumbledore was a wise person and always knew what he was doing. So, planning his death also had some possible reasons behind it. There are many reasons why Dumbledore choose death for himself. They are:
To Protect the Soul of Malfoy
From the beginning of the movie The Half-Blood Prince, we see Draco Malfoy with a worried expression. The reason behind him being so stressed is revealed after he lets the Death Eaters enter the school premises through the Hogwarts vanishing Cabinet.
It seemed like Draco was one of the Death Eaters. But that was not entirely the actual case. He was about to become one of them. The Dark Lord assigned Malfoy the dangerous and complex task of killing the Headmaster. If he could not do so, he would have to lose his life at the hands of the Dark Lord. This was the reason Malfoy had that edgy look to him.
We find it funny how Voldemort could order Malfoy to do something that he was also unable to do. We can’t deal with Voldemort’s audacity to order people to do what he failed to do at the stake of their life.
Malfoy feared for his life, and Dumbledore was aware of it. Since Malfoy was one of his students, he cared a lot about him. He didn’t want to stain Malfoy’s soul dark after allowing him to kill his headmaster. He also knew that Malfoy would die if he was unsuccessful in completing the given task.
So, to protect his beloved student’s life and soul, he asked his close friend to do the deed. In the end, Snape kills Dumbledore.
Curse of Marvolo Gaunt’s Ring
When Voldemort obtained his maternal grandfather’s heirloom from his uncle, the Marvolo Gaunt’s Ring, he used to openly wear it during his school years. After he learned about the possibility of creating multiple Horcruxes, he turned the ring into one. He was able to develop it after murdering his father.
The Dark Lord also placed a curse on the ring as a defense against anyone who tries to destroy it. The curse would later kill anyone who would wear it. After placing the curse, he hid it in the Gaunt shack, the original place where he found it.
But sadly, Dumbledore found the Gaunt shack and saw the ring inside it. He knew about the Deathly Hallows and recognized the resurrection stone placed on the ring. He knew that the resurrection stone could revive the dead, so he tried to use it.
As mentioned above, Dumbledore regretted the death of his family members, and it haunted him his whole life. So, he put on the ring in the hope that he would revive his family and ask for their apologies for his selfishness in the past. This strong emotion of regret blurred his common sense. He didn’t even consider that the ring would have been cursed since it was one of Voldemort’s Horcrux.
This activated the curse and nearly killed him just after putting the ring. He was a powerful wizard, so he used his skill to contain the curse from spreading to his whole body and taking his life. The curse just caused a severe injury to the hand that he had put on the ring.
Voldemort’s curse was not reversible but became more robust as time passed. It was evident that Dumbledore had to die after some time. With the further help of Snape’s knowledge of dark arts, the help curse spread temporarily through the thick golden potion and several incantations. This allowed Dumbledore to live for about a year.
Many of you might wonder how Harry could hold the resurrection stone without being cursed.
The curse was already removed from the ring in Harry’s hand. Dumbledore had used the basilisk venom-infused Sword of Gryffindor to attack the cursed ring, which destroyed the Horcrux and disabled the curse.
Although removing the curse from the infected might seem impossible, removing it from the host object was possible. So, Dumbledore had to die because of the curse. If Snape hadn’t killed him, then he would have died eventually. For Dumbledore to die because of foolishness would have been humiliating for him.
Effect of Emerald Potion
The Emerald Potion, also known as the Drink of Despair, could induce fear, delirium, and extreme thirst in the drinker. The potion was also quite mysterious. According to Dumbledore, the potion could not be penetrated by the hand, vanished, parted, scooped up, siphoned away, or anything.
The only way to drain it entirely away is by drinking. Although it wasn’t capable of killing the person, it would make the drinker weak and vulnerable. Dumbledore also had to drink the potion.
On the second attempt to obtain one of Voldemort’s Horcrux, Salazar’s Slytherin’s Locket, the headmaster took Harry with him. Since the only way to remove the potion was to drink it, he drank it. He started drinking with the help of Harry. The effect started to take action after drinking three cups.
Although he could drink all the potions to obtain the locket, it affected him badly. He started to experience terrible things like his worst memory and extreme thirst. The pain of the potion was also so great that he begged Harry to kill him. He said, “kill me” because of the extreme physical pain he was experiencing.
Prove Snape’s Loyalty Towards Voldemort
In the later released movies after the death of Dumbledore, we see that Snape was a double agent from the beginning. He had been sharing the information he obtained from the Death Eaters with Dumbledore and just sharing what Dumbledore ordered him to tell.
There was a reason for Snape’s loyalty toward Dumbledore, but we will not discuss that. Just know that Dumbledore and Snape had been working together long before we knew. So, after the return of the Dark Lord, it is evident that there would be some suspicion toward Snape.
So, what is the best way to remove the suspicion? Yes, you thought killing the only person equal in power with the Dark Lord was right. Dumbledore was brilliant and knew what he was doing from the beginning. We can say he hit many birds with one stone.
Snape was able to stay as a double agent and a trusted Death Eater of the Dark Lord. After his death, he charged Harry’s safety with Snape.
Prevent the Elder Wand from going into Wrong Hands
After defeating Grindelwald in 1945, the ownership of the Elder Wand was passed on to him. He owned the wand for more than 50 years.
In the movie, we see that Voldemort also searched for Elder Wand. He planned to acquire the wand through Malfoy. He had planned to kill Malfoy after h obtaining the wand and getting the ownership.
Letting the Dark Lord obtain the wand is the last thing he would want for anyone. So, planned to give ownership of the Elder wand to his trusted friend Snape. HE thought that if he died at the hands of Snape, the right would pass on to him.
Both the plan didn’t end up how they wanted. Before Snape could kill Dumbledore, Malfoy became unwilling by the owner of the Elder wand, which no one was aware of. Since Dumbledore was relatively weak by the time he encountered Draco, the boy was able to disarm him. This made him the owner.
Both Dumbledore and Voldemort were unaware of this. Before the Dark Lord could know about the actual owner, Harry had already defeated Draco and got the ownership of the wand. In the end, Dumbledore’s wish comes true.
Why couldn’t Dumbledore come back to life if Harry was able to?
Many fans argue that Dumbledore should also come back to life since he had all three Deathly hallows. He owned the Ressurection stone, the elder wand, and the Cloak of Invisibility. But he might have it, but it never belonged to him. He only owned the Elder Wand.
Even if did he own all the hallows, there was no proof that this magical artifact possessed the ability to bring its owner back to life. They were just powerful magical artifacts with great power.
Harry also had all three hallows at some point, but that was not why he could come back to life. The real reason was that Harr never died. The killing curse that Voldemort cast killed the part of him living inside harry. The protection spell of his mother, Lily, protected him from Voldemort.
We know that the Lily protection spell still existed in Voldemort because he took Harry’s blood, thinking it would make him stronger. So, his own planed backfired and brought his destruction.
For Dumbledore, there wasn’t any protection spell that would protect him. If he hadn’t died in the hands of Snape, then the curse from the Marvolo Gaunt’s ring would have eventually killed him.

So, Dumbledore never came back to life, and there is no way he would come back to life. He is gone for good. Even in his last moments, he utilized his death to help his students. he cared about his student’s future even if those students intended to kill him.
He also sacrificed himself to help Harry. He had always been there for Harry to help him even after his death; he guided him to the right path and taught him some life lessons. Dumbledore has stolen the hearts of many Harry Potter fans, and we are sure it will stay the same.
