Call of Duty is one first-person shooter game everyone has played, at least one of the games in the franchise. The Call of Duty Franchise has expanded and has become one of the prominent players in first-person shooting experience.
Since its first game back in 2003 of the same name, Call of Duty, it has 19 games in the franchise. It has given us a lot of great experiences with such great campaigns.
Call of Duty campaigns has a wide variety of content. The campaigns span from the distant future to World War II’s grueling and dark history.
With so many games in the hand, we as players have loved so many of its characters. Those characters have appeared in multiple games throughout the years. And we, players have always loved them.
The characters from all these games have given us distinct memories. The franchise has given us a lot of great individuals. While it’s impossible to showcase all of them, here are the best Call of Duty Characters we have chosen.
Jason Hudson first appeared in Call of Duty’s Black Ops which was the seventh installment in the Call of Duty Franchise. He is one of the best characters in the whole series.
He is a CIA agent who was also the handler of Alex Mason. He was also a supporting character in many missions of Black Ops, Black Ops II, and Black Ops Cold War.
From helping Mason to figure out what the numbers in his head meant to his heroic sacrifice in Black Ops II, he is very much loved for his heroic act. He sure went in a painful way but what he did, led to his comrades surviving a horrific way. He sure was a hero.
Farah Ahmed Karim
Farah is one of the newer characters in the rebooted series of Modern Warfare. While most people were kind of skeptical about newer characters in the old series, she has established herself as one of the coolest characters in the series.
She is the commander of Urzikstan Liberation Force who works alongside Task Force 141 to liberate her country from Roman Barkov. She is a skillful professional and a great patriot.
At Modern Warfare’s end, we can see how she is responsible for Roman’s death. Many fans were worried whether she would appear in the sequel or not but rest assured, she is in the next installment of Modern Warfare.
David Mason is the son of CIA Agent Alex Mason and is the main protagonist of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. He is a skillful killer who always does his work right.
While he resented his father, he still loved him deeply. Black Ops II has shown us one of the best onscreen emotional stories. His relation with Woods as his uncle after his father’s death (Player determined) has to be one of the best heartwarming stories.
David is, without a doubt the most loved character in the Black Ops series. The way he tackles problems and his ability help him gain higher ranks than any other character.
The conclusion of the game, where he reunites with his father will always be one of the best tear-jerking scenes in all the video-game world.
Ronald Red Daniels
Ronald Red Daniels is the main protagonist of Call of Duty WWII, which is the fourteenth game in the Call of Duty franchise. Ronald is seen as a naive person and leaves everyone behind to live up to his father’s legacy.
Daniels is best friends with Robert Zussman, who he met in the basic training. Firstly he hated Robert but later on they became best of friends, and was also in the same 1st Infantry Division, 16th Infantry Regiment.
WWII has spent a lot of time showing the protagonist’s family background and past life. WWII has one of the best campaigns too, which shows us all about promises, friendship, legacy and regrets.
He is one of the most prominent characters in all video games and kudos to the writers cause Red Daniels is one of the most well-written characters in a video game.
Gary Roach Sanderson
Gary Roach Sanderson first appeared in the original Modern Warfare II. He is the main protagonist and playable character of Modern Warfare II. He is there alongside Ghost, Captain Price, and Soap.
Roach has to be one of the most loved characters in Call of Duty. He was a member of Task Force 141 and was on a mission alongside a lot of other characters.
His and Ghost’s death in the Modern Warfare series was very tragic. General Shepherd’s betrayal was something we as players, were totally not expecting. It has to be one of the most shocking betrayals in the history of the whole franchise.
Our very first mission in Modern Warfare II shows Roach with Captain Soap. This mission was very cool, and the way Soap saves Roach from falling off the cliff has to be one of the best scenes in the whole game.
The main antagonist of the original Modern Warfare series is Vladimir Makarov. He is the most memorable villain in the whole franchise. He is just the most chaotic man and will go to any extent to get what he really wants.
Makarov is famous for his very controversial level, “No Russian” in Modern Warfare II. The mass shooting in the airport in this mission was very much criticized in the real world, but it was one of many catalysts in the game.
Vladimir was always a step ahead of Price and everyone. He was very quick-witted and was always able to get the better of everyone in the series.
We love that this character is one of the most hated villains too. He was the reason so many of our favorite characters got killed. He truly was a menace.
Frank Woods, a very fun person with quick wit, is still a fan-favorite. Frank Woods has been there since Black Ops back in 2010. He is one of the main characters in that game.
Frank is a long-term friend of Alex. They have been together for a long time and can be friends until the end. We can also see that he is the uncle to Alex’s son David and has a very good connection with him and helps him in the fight against Raul Menendez.
Woods is a true fellow and a true friend. He has always been there when Mason needs help. We, the fans, have loved Frank from the very beginning.
Black Ops II gives us many options to make in the game, and we can only hope for your best people. As your choices could kill a lot of characters, you love.
Ethan is the only character who is not human in this list. Ethan appeared in Call of Duty Infinite Warfare which is the thirteenth game in the Call of Duty Franchise.
E3N, aka Ethan, is a tactical Humanoid capable of responding and human emotions. He was in the game from the very beginning. The game shows how Ethan is not really accepted as a crew in the beginning, but later on, he is appreciated by everyone.
Even though he is a robot, he is a brother to Reyes. And him trying to comfort Reyes as he was suffocating was a really kind attribute of his.
The line, “I think I’m scared, sir.” was one line that really had us on the edge of our seats. It was a tear-jerker. His final recorded message must be one of the best pieces of written history in the gaming world.
Black Ops has to be one of the most interesting games in the whole Call of Duty franchise. We all love how black ops started with the interrogation with Alex. Also, the plot twists it had were one of the best.
Alex is a badass in the game alongside Frank Woods, his best buddy. He was a classic in Black Ops and Black Ops II. He will forever be loved for his personal and professional achievements in the game.
His son, David Mason, takes on the mantle in Black Ops II and he is also one of our best characters. The heartwarming scene with Alex meeting David at the end of Black Ops II has to be one of the best scenes in all video games.
Victor Reznov, a prominent figure in World At War and Black Ops, is loved by many people all around the world. Reznov was a character who loved his comrades more than anything.
We first saw him in World At War alongside Dimitri Petrenko, who was his comrade. His comrades were later on betrayed and we can see Victor getting prisoned in Vorkuta.
In Black Ops, he helps Mason and other prisoners get out of Vorkuta and helps him track down those who brainwashed Mason. The prison revolt scene in Black Ops is a fan favorite. Also, the twist later on in Black Ops revolving around Mason and Reznov is a masterpiece.
The intellect behind the conflict between Russia and America, Shepard, is a perfect example of how humans are capable of both good and bad things. Shepard is one cruel character who would go to any extent to get what he wants.
His betrayal of Task Force 141 is one of the memorable scenes in Modern Warfare II. He is also the commander of a shady army known as the Shadow Company.
Initially, we begin the game thinking that Shepard is one of the good guys, but his betrayal comes at a very high cost as Task Force 141 loses two of its best members, Ghost and Roach. The main antagonist of Modern Warfare II is not really a favorite in the community. Still, his death at the end was so well executed, it is our favorite death in Call of Duty history and you know what? He deserved it.
John Soap MacTavish
The very first introduction to this character was done back in the original Modern Warfare in 2007. His first interaction with Captain Price was also very memorable when he said, “Right, what the hell kind of name is ‘Soap’, eh? How’d a muppet like you pass selection?
He has become the most beloved character in the Modern Warfare series. One of the best in Task Force 141, he was a confident person with a lot of skill sets. He, alongside Roach, Ghost and Price, is the best lineup in the franchise.
His death in Modern Warfare III was one of many curveballs we as players, didn’t expect. We personally didn’t think Infinity Ward had the ability to kill off such a popular character.
On top of that, seeing Captain Price cry over his cold body was heartbreaking. Without a doubt, most people who grew up playing Call of Duty love this character.
Captain John Price
The love everyone has for this character is immense, and we don’t think we really have much to explain here. John appeared all the way back in 2007 in the original Modern Warfare series. John is a harsh character but has a heart for his comrades. We can see this throughout the game as he doesn’t want his men alone on the battlefield.
The flashback mission of John and his captain MacMillan, ‘All Ghillied Up,’ is a very memorable part of this franchise in Modern Warfare.
His signature mustache and his iconic cigar are the definition of his coolness. It is believed that Call of Duty made a great leader and got everyone obsessed with him.
Simon Ghost Riley
“There’s no picture.”
That is, well, enough to introduce him.
Ghost is one of the founding members of Task Force 141. Ghost is someone who connected with fans after we all got to know all about his tragic past. This character had to go through a lot as a kid, and from getting his whole family killed to him enduring torture, it was a tragic past.
After all those tragic events, he was guided by Shepard, only to later on be betrayed by him. Ghost is one of the coolest characters in the whole franchise.
Simon appeared in Modern Warfare II back in 2009, and despite him appearing only in one game, he was instantly a fan favorite. His iconic skill pattern, balaclava, and headset made him a very unique character.
Despite him never showing his face, he has become one of the best characters in the whole Call of Duty franchise.
The Call of Duty franchise has given us great games every year for more than 14 years in a row. Without a doubt, the characters in many games have become our favorites. This list we made is totally based on our personal gaming experience and how attached, we were with the characters.
We as fans can only hope for other games and characters we can get attached to. Thank You, Activision, for making great games and great characters.
