Ever since the Disney+ Marvel series Wanda Vision was released, there were rumors that the antagonist of the series, Agatha Harkness, would get her series. Finally, Kevin Feige announced all the movies and series from MCU Phase 5 at Comic-Con 2022.
Feige announced that MCU Phase 5 would also have Agatha’s series, but we could not get the exact release date of the Wanda Vision spinoff. However, we got the title of the series Agatha: Coven of Choas. Furthermore, the only thing we know about this series is its title. Marvel Studios recently revealed that the series would be featuring actress Aubrey Plaza. However, Coven of Chaos remains a mystery project.
Fans went nuts after they found out Aubrey Plaza would be in the series, but still, the only thing announced was Plaza’s involvement in the series; clearly, fans can’t wait to know what character Plaza will be portraying in the series. Below we will briefly discuss what character she might play.
What character is Aubrey Plaza playing?
It seems that Plaza will play the villain role in the spinoff, and with a powerhouse like Plaza joining the cast, it is doubtful that she will have a minor role. And given that Agatha is a witch and a magic user or was a magic user since Wanda stripped off of her magic abilities at the end of Wanda Vision, we can assume that Plaza’s character will also have magic skills.
Keeping that in mind, we think Aubrey Plaza might be portraying a Marvel villain Morgan Le Fay. She is a supervillain who can use powerful magic. In New Avengers Vol. 1 #53 of the comic, she was considered Dr. Strange’s replacement by The Eye of Agamotto.
Furthermore, we also saw in Wanda’s Vision that Agatha was in a coven, so maybe here we will get to see Agatha’s Nicholas Scratch and his children Salem’s Seven. If you read comics, then you’ll know that Salem’s Seven is a group of supervillains who are also compelling magic users. And maybe Plaza will portray one of the seven characters. It would be interesting to see Agatha’s son using his magical children against his mother.
Other than Aubrey Plaza, actresses Maria Dizzia and Ali Ahn have been reported to be in the series, which could mean that there is a chance we will get Salem’s Seven.
Agatha, after Wanda Vision
This spinoff will be a sequel to the Wanda Vision series, where we will see a magicless witch Agatha Harkness. Since this is a sequel to the Wanda Vision, it is evident that it will continue Agatha’s story after the events of the Wanda Vision series.
Moreover, it is rumored that Wanda’s son Billy Maximoff will also appear in the series. The Illuminerdi reported that Billy will be a teenager in the series and seems to be an essential character. And since Heartstopper star Joe Locke joined the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos, fans speculate that he will be portraying the character of teenage Billy Maximoff.
Whether Elizabeth Olsen will reprise, her role is still unclear, although Olsen has said that she has not been asked to reprise her role. She, however, said that she would love to pop up. She told ET Online when she was asked if she’s been approached for Coven of Chaos, “I mean, no, but I would love to pop up. I love Kathryn, and I don’t want to leave her side ever, we do think, ‘Gosh, we just gotta do it again!’ We just had a really great time making that show, and with Paul, it was really a special time, so we would love to get the gang back.”
